Magic Band Updates for Disney World

Beginning in January 2021, Disney World changed its complimentary Magic Band policy.  They are no longer mailing free bands out to guests.  If you opt not to use previous bands or purchase new ones, you can use your cell phone with the My Disney Experience app for all your Disney World needs.  This includes unlocking your resort room. 

Just announced addition to the Magic Band changes is the phased launching of Magic Mobile Service, starting in late 2021.

The new MagicMobile service further rolls out the contactess way to access MagicBand features through the power of an iPhone, Apple Watch, and other smart devices. Guests will be able to create their MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to their smart device's digital wallet, to function similar to a Magic Band.

This new feature will roll out first on Apple devices.

Magic Bands will still be available for use, and Disney will be rolling out additional options in new trendy colors and fun designs. They are always available for purchase via the Disney store, at theme parks, and through your My Disney Experience with a park reservation or ticket purchase.

The existing digital room key feature will also continue to be available within the My Disney Experience app.  And resort guests can always pick up a Key to the World card by visiting the resort front desk.
